Maker - Sparkling Riesling - Ser Winery

About This Item

Overview: We’re the ladies of Maker, here to serve up award-winning wine for discerning palates and the good of human kind.

We started Maker to offer premium wine sans the snobbery. To highlight interesting varietals crafted by award-winning small producers. To tell the story of the producer that hand crafted your wine. And to package up “wine for one” in earth-conscious cans. Because we believe high-end wine isn’t just for the wealthy, distribution shouldn’t just be for the big guys, and great stories—like great wines—are meant to be shared. - Sarah, Kendra, and Zoe

Ah, Riesling. The wine with many personas. It can range from sweet, to off-dry, to dry, still or sparkling. Some might associate it with being a dessert wine, but Riesling's dry alter ego will blow your socks off. Upon first sip you'll find a well-structured, deliciously aromatic wine, sans the sweetness - reminiscent of Alsatian and German styles wine collectors vie for.

This Sparkling Riesling is very special to Nicole, as it was the first wine she made to launch her winery, Ser, in 2012. The fruit is from the iconic Wirz Vineyard in Cienega Valley - an old-vine and organically-farmed planting that produces bright, naturally acidic fruit with distinctive minerality. A food lover's dream, try it paired with a variety of dishes from sushi and charcuterie to oysters and Asian dishes.

Tasting Notes: This surprisingly rich, sparkling wine is completely dry - reminiscent of the traditional German or Alsatian styles. AKA, all of the aromatic notes, sans the sugar. Bright natural acidity and distinctive minerality, with notes of lime, pear, and a hint of pineapple. It just may change your opinion of Riesling - forever.

Pairing: Sip with oysters, charcuterie, or sushi.
