Balcones barrel picks allows consumers access to one-off products that you’d normally never get to try. These barrels all have a slight twist to them and all are bottled at barrel proof. For these picks, Balcones pulled out the big guns and gave us access to some truly unique barrels to choose from - 9 total and it was quite a variety. In the end we chose three whiskeys with very unique backgrounds, and even more unique flavor profiles.
The sticker background is simple. Balcones is located in Texas. Chuck Norris was the Texas Ranger. You don’t mess with Texas….or Chuck Norris. The end result is a mashup of Chuck Norris versus Whiskey. Guess what? Chuck Norris kicks Whiskey’s ass. And Whiskey loves it. Hopefully you enjoy them as much as we do!
Tasting Notes
SBC #35 Balcones Single Malt Barrel Proof - This distillation was the first run after a Peated Malt run. It was aged in a used European oak cask (before this malt it previously held malt, and before that Balcones Rum)
Nose: Light malt | Canned peaches | Hay | Graham Cracker | Touch of smoke | Light overall
Palate: Malt | Oak | Light caramel | Heavy baking spice | Nice mouthfeel
Finish: Oak | Light leather | Hints of malt | Simmering heat
