OVERVIEW:

On May 4th, 2021 Kenny & Ryan held a virtual tasting hosted by Seth Benhaim (CEO of Infuse Spirits, & Broken Barrel).  Seth and his team are pushing the boundaries finding creative and innovative ways to compliment great whiskey. 

For our selection, Kenny and Ryan sampled through 4 whiskeys looking for the perfect base whiskey and then sampled through a variety of finishing options.  As the name suggests, "Broken Barrel", dismembers used barrels and builds what they refer to as an Oak Bill which is a collection of staves to mingle inside a stainless steel barrel until the flavors are "Just Right".  You are going to be blown away by this one-of-a-kind selection.  Enjoy!

BARREL DETAILS:

• Whiskey:  85% Corn & 15% Malted Barley, 7 years, Distilled in IN, Proof 117.2
• Oak Bill (Stave Selection):  60% Peach Brandy, 20% Ex-Rye, 20% French Oak

TASTING NOTES:

RECOMMENDATION - Remove cork, and leave bottle exposed to air for 48 hours.  You will be rewarded for your patience. 

• NOSE - The peach ring candy notes fly immediately on the nose, but if given time in the glass, and further time from when the bottle was cracked, it hides in the glass and reveals some unique Armagnac-like pleasantries.
• TASTE - the palate is dangerously drinkable. Effervescent in the mouth, you are greeted with lively notes of peach, brown sugar, clove, and lemon-lime soda. The body is creamy, very easy to drink for the proof.
• FINISH - The finish continues with sweetness and citrus in unison, with a trailing pop-rock candy-like sweetness and sensation and a subtly musty, unique dispersion. The palate continues to grow in the nose as you sip.
