Disznoko - Tokaji Aszu - 6 Puttonyos (500 ml)
Description
Overview: Disznóko is an estate in Tokaj, Hungary, known for its modern-styled examples of the region's famous dessert wines. The estate makes a range of wines, from five and six puttonyos wines and an Aszú Eszencia to a floral, dry wine made of Furmint.
The Disznóko property was first mentioned in land registries in 1413, and winemaking must have been well-established by 1732, when the vineyard was declared a first growth in the first Tokaj classification. Historically owned by various aristocratic families, the estate was nationalized under Communist governments in the 20th Century. Since 1992, the estate has been under the ownership of AXA Millésimes, the French Bank division that also has properties such as Chateau Pichon Baron and Quinta do Noval in its portfolio.
Tasting Notes: This golden-colored Tokaji has aromas of raw honey, apricot blossom, pear and baked apple tart. Silky smooth upon entry, it offers flavors of baked apples, wildflower honey, canned pears and apricot. The acidity is nicely balanced so as not to be too cloyingly sweet.
Pairing: Fruit based desserts
