Tasting Notes:
Nose: Good and oily, tangy spices, and sublime toasty oak. This is a more charred whiskey that the others in the range, and it offers up fresh black pepper and applewood aromas.
Palate: Very spicy/sweet. Here caramel is joined by prune, dates and thick, biscuity oak.
Finish: Spices and crunchy wood, at 47.8% abv, this is a HUGE whiskey!
In keeping with Old Rip Van Winkle’s range, this bottling is a decidedly well-aged whiskey, this rye was aged for 13 years and has a refined maturity.
