At Smooth Ambler, after they began merchant bottling the whiskey they call Old Scout, it occurred to them that at some point it may be fun and interesting to blend a little of the delicious bourbon they source with the smooth and sweet wheated bourbon still distilled here in West Virginia.
With that notion in mind, Contradiction was born; a blend of whiskey they make with whiskey they do not. Contradiction is non-chill filtered and is full-bodied, with notes of dried fruit and butter rum, and has the end-result of tasting like a four-grain bourbon.
A bourbon as diverse and smooth as the people who make it. Bottled at 92 proof because, well, it just tastes better that way. When you take that first sip, you’ll taste a blend of straight bourbon whiskies from our own backyard in West Virginia, and yes… even some from Tennessee and Indiana. It’s an unlikely combination of mashbills that works incredibly well whether you’re making cocktails or drinking it neat.
