Scarbolo - Pinot Grigio - Friuli-Venezia
Description
Overview: This bottling of Pinot Grigio is made up of hand-harvested grapes from the "Le Fredis", "Codis" and "Mattia" vineyards. The grapes are softly pressed whole clusters immediately after harvesting. The juice is cooled and decants naturally, eliminating particles resulting from vinification. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature before the wine ages on the noble lees in stainless steel for 6 months with frequent batonnages.
100% Pinot Grigio from two vineyard blocks planted in 2003 and 2004. Yield around 127 quintals. Both vineyards were fermented separately in stainless steel. Aged for seven months on the lees with regular lees stirring. 'August gifted us with many and significant diurnal shifts (courtesy of quarantine-related lower pollution and normalized weather) which show in the wine via an enviable acidity and aromatic expression as the polyphenolic ripeness was above standard.
Tasting Notes: Straw yellow. Concentrated soft pear, melon and tropical-fruit nose. Viscous pear and papaya palate. Full and with nervy acidity running through the fruit.
Pairing: White fish
Points: 90, Vinous
Format/ABV: 750 ml/12.5%
