Conterno Fantino - Ginestrino - Nebbiolo Langhe
Description
Overview: 100% Nebbiolo. The vineyard is located in Monforte d'Alba, planted 1998 - 2007 with a South, South-East, South-West exposure on clay soils. Altitude ranges from 200 to 450 meters above sea level with a 25% to 45% vineyard slope. Vines a Guyot trained with a density of 4.500/5.000 vines per ha.
Grapes are selected and picked by hand in the beginning - mid-October. Average production is 6,5-7 t/ha - 45-49 hi/ha. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel horizontal fermenters for 8-10 days. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels. Approximately 30,000-35,000 bottles are produced each vintage, and the first bottling was 1984.
This wine is made from organically grown grapes certified by CCPB srl - Bologna.
Tasting Notes: The nose is dominated by wood, graphite, licorice. Very grippy acidity, medium tannin, ends on notes of wild mushrooms.
