Day Wines - Zinfandel - Sonoma County
Description
Overview: The grapes all come to us from Sonoma County, a historic region for Zinfandel, and are a blend of vineyards spanning the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valley such as Gore, El Diablo, Sommer, and Ponzo. The variety blend is predominately Zinfandel with trace amounts of Petite Sirah. The grapes undergo roughly 10% whole cluster and only native yeast is used. The wine is then aged for about 11 months in 10% new, 90% neutral French oak barrique.
Tasting Notes: Aromatically the wine has notes of dehydrated raspberries and blueberry jam, with dried herbs and spicy peppercorns. On the palate, the wine has flavors of sweet red cherries, cobbler topping, tobacco, and wet rock.
Pairing: Chinese beef with black bean sauce
Points: 93, Wine Spectator
Format / ABV: 750 ml/15.0%
