Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson C Bourbon Whiskey (750mL) — Inaugural 2022 Release | 112.4 Barrel Proof | 72-Barrel Small Batch | Lost Rickhouse
Experience the bottle that launched one of Russell's Reserve's most collectible limited-edition series with Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson C Bourbon Whiskey, the inaugural release in the Single Rickhouse Collection.
Released in 2022, Camp Nelson C was created to explore one of the most fascinating variables in Kentucky bourbon maturation: exactly where a barrel spends its life.
Rather than blending barrels from multiple warehouses, Master Distiller Eddie Russell selected whiskey exclusively from one specific building—the legendary Camp Nelson C rickhouse.
Only 72 barrels were selected.
All came from the prized center-cut third and fourth floors of the seven-story warehouse.
The bourbon was aged for more than 10 years, bottled at its robust 112.4 barrel proof (56.2% ABV), and presented non-chill filtered to preserve its rich texture and full barrel character.
But what makes Camp Nelson C particularly significant for collectors is that the warehouse itself is gone.
Built in 1946 and situated on a hill near the Kentucky River, Camp Nelson C was constructed from timber and clad in metal, with its location and airflow creating a distinctive environment for bourbon maturation.
The rickhouse was decommissioned and dismantled in 2021.
When Russell's Reserve released this whiskey the following year, the barrels inside represented something that could never be recreated: mature Wild Turkey bourbon from a specific warehouse that no longer existed.

🥃 The First Single Rickhouse Release
Russell's Reserve created the Single Rickhouse Collection around a simple but fascinating concept:
Where a bourbon ages can be just as important as how it is made.
Even barrels containing identical distillate can mature differently depending upon their warehouse.
Elevation, floor location, airflow, exposure to temperature changes, surrounding geography, and the physical construction of the rickhouse can all influence how whiskey interacts with oak.
Instead of blending those differences away, the Single Rickhouse Collection isolates them.
Each edition focuses on whiskey matured within one specific Wild Turkey rickhouse, allowing enthusiasts to experience the personality of that individual warehouse.
And it all began with Camp Nelson C.
🥃 The Lost Camp Nelson C Rickhouse
Camp Nelson C was built in 1946.
The seven-story rickhouse stood on elevated ground near the Kentucky River, where airflow around the timber-and-tin structure helped create its distinctive maturation environment.
For this release, Eddie Russell didn't simply select barrels from anywhere inside the building.
He focused on the third and fourth floors—the center cut or “sweet spot” of the warehouse.
These middle floors can provide a compelling balance between the hotter conditions found higher in a Kentucky rickhouse and the cooler maturation environment closer to ground level.
The selected barrels remained there for more than a decade.
Then the story took an irreversible turn.
Camp Nelson C was decommissioned and dismantled in 2021.
When Russell's Reserve launched the Single Rickhouse Collection in 2022, it chose this vanished warehouse for its inaugural expression.
That means this release isn't merely whiskey from a particular warehouse.
It is whiskey from a warehouse that can never produce another barrel again.
🥃 Only 72 Barrels
The inaugural Single Rickhouse release was assembled from just 72 carefully selected barrels.
Rather than constructing a large batch designed to maintain a standardized flavor profile, Eddie Russell selected a small parcel representing the character he found compelling in the middle floors of Camp Nelson C.
Those barrels were then bottled at 112.4 barrel proof.
The whiskey was also non-chill filtered, helping retain the oils, texture, and concentrated flavor developed during more than ten years of Kentucky maturation.
The result is a deeply flavored Wild Turkey bourbon combining classic caramel and vanilla with darker fruit, toasted nuts, chocolate, baking spice, and mature oak.
