Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F Bourbon Whiskey (750mL) — 2023 Limited Release | 10+ Years | 117.6 Barrel Proof | Camp Nelson F

Explore the influence of one of Wild Turkey's most celebrated aging environments with Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F Bourbon Whiskey, the second release in the highly collectible Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Collection.

Released in 2023, Camp Nelson F follows the inaugural Camp Nelson C bottling with another fascinating exploration of how one individual Kentucky rickhouse can shape mature bourbon.

For this release, Master Distiller Eddie Russell selected a small batch of barrels aged for more than 10 years, all coming exclusively from the coveted 4th and 5th floors of Camp Nelson F.

These floors represent what Russell's Reserve calls the “center cut”—the middle section of the seven-story rickhouse where temperature fluctuations provide a balance between the hotter upper floors and cooler conditions closer to the ground.

The resulting bourbon was bottled non-chill filtered at 117.6 barrel proof (58.8% ABV), preserving its full texture and concentrated combination of dark caramel, cherry, dried fruit, baking spice, tobacco, vanilla, and mature Kentucky oak.

🥃 The Second Single Rickhouse Release

Russell's Reserve launched its Single Rickhouse Collection to investigate a variable that is sometimes overlooked in bourbon:

Where did the barrel actually age?

Kentucky rickhouses aren't climate-controlled environments engineered to make every barrel mature identically.

Quite the opposite.

Temperature, airflow, humidity, elevation, warehouse construction, floor position, and surrounding geography can influence how bourbon interacts with its barrel over many years.

The Single Rickhouse Collection isolates those differences.

Instead of blending barrels from multiple warehouses to create consistency, each release is built entirely around whiskey matured inside one specific rickhouse.

Camp Nelson C launched the concept in 2022.

Camp Nelson F followed in 2023.

🥃 Why Camp Nelson F?

Built in the 1940s, Camp Nelson F is a seven-story rickhouse located near the Kentucky River.

Its location is particularly interesting.

Camp Nelson F sits relatively low on the property, where airflow and wind currents coming from the river circulate around the warehouse.

Those conditions have helped make Camp Nelson F a notable maturation site within Wild Turkey's whiskey program.

For the Single Rickhouse release, Eddie Russell went even further.

Rather than pulling whiskey indiscriminately from throughout the warehouse, he selected barrels from only the fourth and fifth floors.

These are part of the rickhouse's prized center cut.

🥃 The Center Cut

The Russell family has long emphasized barrel location when selecting whiskey.

In a traditional seven-story Kentucky rickhouse, conditions can vary considerably from floor to floor.

Upper floors generally experience greater heat.

Lower floors remain comparatively cool.

The middle floors provide a balance between those extremes.

Russell's Reserve considers approximately floors 3 through 5 the center cut or “sweet spot” of its seven-story rickhouses.

For Camp Nelson F, Eddie Russell narrowed the selection to floors 4 and 5.

The barrels remained there for more than a decade, slowly developing the combination of fruit, spice, sweetness, tobacco, and mature oak that defines this release.

🥃 Camp Nelson C vs. Camp Nelson F

For collectors building the Single Rickhouse series, tasting C and F side-by-side provides an opportunity to explore the concept behind the collection.

Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F demonstrates exactly what the Single Rickhouse Collection was created to explore.

Take mature Wild Turkey bourbon, isolate barrels from one specific warehouse, narrow the selection even further to the prized 4th and 5th floors, allow those barrels to mature for more than a decade, and bottle the resulting whiskey non-chill filtered at 117.6 barrel proof.

The result captures a specific place and moment within Wild Turkey's vast bourbon inventory.

For collectors of Russell's Reserve, Wild Turkey, barrel-proof bourbon, mature Kentucky whiskey, and the Single Rickhouse Collection, Camp Nelson F is particularly significant as the second chapter in the series and an ideal companion to the inaugural Camp Nelson C release.
