Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength satisfies an even greater maturity within Batch 13, continuing our crafted 10 Year Old investment with our dutiful triad of peat, salt, and heather. The 57.9% proof point further expresses the complexity of this crafted batch.

Uncompromised purity remains in Batch 13 of our Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength. Uncork and savor a bolder flavour through the elements of Islay once again in this timely spirit. Aged for ten years in ex-Bourbon barrels, Batch 13 is barrier-filtered to remove unwanted char particles then bottled directly from the barrel.

Tasting Notes: 

  • Color: It's vibrant tawny color reflects the full strength of this whisky, hitting at the complex notes drawn from the charred oak. 
  • Nose: The nuanced aroma reveals whiffs of sweet cereals, fresh oak and pipe tobacco with touches of leather, nutmeg, and vanilla.
  • Palate: The Original Cask Strength is sweet with spicy notes of vanilla, toffee, and sea salt along with hints of cinnamon and pepper. 
  • Finish: Long finish with lingering spice, oak tannins, iodine, and sea salt.

    Outstanding and Smoky

    Most would say that Lagavulin 16 is the standard smoky Isla malt. In fact, I believe it is the preferred smoky malt for manly guys with well-groomed beards and large mustaches. However, I don’t believe it’s the best-tasting Isla malt. To me, Laphroaig is a little more approachable for most people. Its smoke is good, but not totally overpowering. It reminds me of the Skye malts (i.e., Talisker) in that regard, but with a little more body and richness. Anyway, this is my go-to Isla malt. Don’t forget to put about a dropper full of clean water in it to bring out all the flavor. Cheers.
