Description
Overview: Le Calcifère is a traditional wine with a concentrated, new world polish, highlighting the expressions of specific sites within the three select terroirs of the Lot Valley.
This wine is composed of fruit selected from the Plateau, the 3rd and 4th Terrace where vines are planted at high density 12,350 vines/acres (5000 vines/ha). Average harvest is around 2.2 tons per acres (40hl/ha).
Hand-harvested in September, the fruit ferments in small stainless steel tanks, then spends18 months in 50% new, 50% single use French oak barrels (225l).
Tasting Notes: A spicy, rich wine with a polished character from wood aging. It has a smoky edge along with acidity. It is a full wine, but one that is balanced with a fresh line of acidity. One of the three wines as part of a collaboration between
