Wolf Point Distilling Everleigh Botanical Infused Vodka (750 ml)
Description
The Everleigh Club, run by the Everleigh sisters, was a renowned high-class brothel in Chicago from 1900 to 1911. It attracted wealthy patrons, including politicians and European royals. The sisters transformed the club with lavish renovations, creating themed rooms like the Rose Parlor and the Japanese Throne Room. Decorated with oriental rugs, gold-framed paintings, and a $15,000 gold-leaf piano, the club offered an exclusive, opulent atmosphere.
The women working there, known as the Everleigh Butterflies, were highly sought after, with one of the most famous being Suzy Poon Tang. The sisters maintained strict standards, and both employees and clients were held to these rules, enhancing the club's reputation. Attending the Everleigh was seen as a status symbol. Clients would often say they were going to get "Everleighed", which the phrase "get laid" is rumored to have originated from.
In 1910, the Chicago Vice Commission moved to shut down the city's brothels, including the Everleigh Club. The sisters accepted the decision gracefully and moved to New York City, where they later founded a neighborhood poetry club.
