Released in 2026, Batch 3 resurrects five historic whiskey labels associated with the George T. Stagg Distillery, the name by which today's Buffalo Trace Distillery was known during America's Prohibition era.
From 1920 to 1933, the 18th Amendment prohibited the production, transportation, and sale of beverage alcohol in the United States. Whiskey could still be obtained for medicinal purposes, however, and George T. Stagg Distillery was among only a handful of distilleries permitted to bottle medicinal whiskey during this extraordinary period.
Drawing from documents preserved in the Buffalo Trace archives, Batch 3 revives five brands bottled under legendary distillery president Albert B. Blanton: Henry Watterson, Kentucky River, John G. Carlisle, Walter B. Duffy, and Cove Spring.
Rather than simply reproducing old labels, Buffalo Trace created five completely different contemporary whiskeys inspired by this history. The collection ranges from a 100 Proof bourbon to an extraordinary 140.6 Proof uncut and unfiltered rye, while also including a blend of 10- and 14-year-old bourbons and a high-proof wheated bourbon.
Each expression comes in its own 375mL bottle, recreating the scale and appearance of its Prohibition-era predecessor. The distillery known today as Buffalo Trace operated during this era as the George T. Stagg Distillery.
