Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon Whiskey No. Shea Vineyard #7 (750 ml)
Description
One of the few “field-to-glass” whiskey producers in the world, Hillrock Estate Distillery is based in the Hudson Valley region of New York. It is said to be the first U.S. distillery since before Prohibition to traditionally floor-malt whiskey on site from natural-grown estate grain. In keeping with the above philosophy of estate, the grounds feature an 1806 Georgian house overlooking the distillery and 100 acres of farmland growing corn, as well as heirloom varieties of rye and barley.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Light copper /amber
- Nose: Mellow caramel
- Palate: The drying palate opens relatively woody, with cedar and spice, and a hint of raisin. A bit of water creates hints of cocoa powder, vanilla and almond tones and rounds out the oaky edges
- Finish: Long with a flurry of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg
