Luca - Old Vine Malbec - Mendoza - Argentina
Description
Overview: In 1997, I felt my country's calling. Our Argentine wines were unknown around the World. I learned about the 500 year-old history of Argentine wine and realized that in my country there was everything to discover. I set out to challenge and break rules to make Argentine wines that could shine. In 1999, I made the first vintage of my Luca Wines. Choosing the name was easy; it was my newborn son's.
Tasting Notes: This is a great example of Mendoza Malbec. Incredible deep purple red color. Loads of spice and black and red cherry aromas with notes of chocolate. The berry flavors really pop on the palate as the wine has both a full mid palate and lively acidity that leads to an incredibly long finish. A bottom note of freshly brewed espresso keeps the mouthwatering too.
Pairing: Any wild game, Medium Strong Cheeses
Points: 93 pts, Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling, 92 pts KE
Format / ABV: 750 ml / 13.5
