Madson - Pinot Noir - Santa Cruz Mountains
Description
Overview: This Pinot Noir is a blend from many small vineyards that we farm around the Santa Cruz Mountains. These small vineyards are all grown among the Redwood trees, are all influenced by the cool Monterey Bay and are all planted on interesting soil types. These cool climate vineyards showcase a complex uniqueness and textural depth. From year to year, this blend of Pinot Noir may differ in its exact vineyard source but it will always be a true Madson expression of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our 2020 vintage is 100% whole cluster fermented. The fermentation began carbonic and we tasted the must to assess the maceration and evaluate extraction. This Pinot Noir is a glimpse into the cool coastal terroir of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Tasting notes: For lovers of zesty, fresh and lithe Pinot Noir, this is a brand to watch intently. Tight and bright aromas of wild strawberry, tart plum and raspberry meet with sage, pepper and tree bark on the nose. The texturally engaging palate pops with cran-raspberry, peppercorn and juniper flavors.
