Mauritson - Zinfandel - Rockpile Ridge
Description
Overview: Nearly, entirely Zinfandel, with just a smattering of Petite Sirah, the fruit comes from multiple select vineyards within the Dry Creek Valley AVA. These selected sites include the following vineyards: Block 5, Rockpile Ridge, Madrone Spring and Cemetery, Faloni Ranch, Buchignani/Garcia, Treborce, and Montecillo. The wine is aged for 14 months in 100% French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Aromatically the wine is full of sweet black cherries, molasses, cake spices, dried herbs and damp top soil. On the palate there is a combination of ripe red fruit flavors, with lingering notes of minerality and herbaceous-ness.
Pairing: Short-rib tacos
Points: 94, Wine Spectator
Format / ABV: 750 ml/14.57%
