Opaque - Zinfandel - Paso Robles
Description
Overview: Our estate vineyard in Paso Robles is named Quarry Heights due to its steep, rocky hillsides and view of an old quarry. The head-trained vines grow on calcareous shale soils that impart a distinct minerality to the wine. After aging in French oak barrels for 14 months, our Zinfandel reveals ripe flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, and black cherry with accents of spice and dark cocoa.
Opaque Zinfandel comes only from the best lots that our estate vineyards have to offer. Small lots are picked and fermented individually with minimal intervention to allow the true expression of the soil and climate. The wines are matured in 100% hand-crafted French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Blackberry, cherry, soy and hints of damp oak show on the lush nose of this bottling. Soft tannins make for a voluptuous palate, where roasted black cherry and smoky oak leads to a familiar caramel-laced finished.
Pairing: Our Zinfandel is quite versatile in its pairing options. Try it with pulled pork, french onion soup, or sharp cheddar.
