Stony Brook - Ghost Gum - Cabernet Sauvignon
Overview: This charming boutique estate is set in the foothills of Franschhoek and was established in 1995. Nigel & Joy McNaught started the estate 27 years ago and the family tradition continues with their son Craig, now the chief winemaker. In 1995, the farm was mostly fruit trees, which were slowly pulled out to plant vines – Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon and Chardonnay.
From there, Stony Brook has grown and expanded their portfolio to include 14 grape varieties. Their philosophy of winemaking is firmly rooted in the old-world tradition, and they strive to produce high quality wines in an environmentally friendly manner.
Tasting Notes: This Cabernet Sauvignon has a bouquet of chocolate covered espresso beans, black currants and black plums with a hint of cloves. The palate delivers notes of fresh blackberries and blueberries with a spicy chocolate caramel finish.
Pairing: This wine drinks alone or pairs with smoked meats or even smoked turkey, any cut steak grilled or seared and pasta with marina or Bolognese sauce.
Format/ABV: 750 ml/14.77%
