Villa Wolf - Dry Riesling - Pfalz
Description
Overview: In the northern Pfalz, in Wachenheim, on the edge of the Mittelhaardt, you will find our traditional winery, whose roots go back deep into the history of Palatinate viticulture. When Ernst Loosen took over the winery in 1996, it already had an eventful, almost 250-year history behind it. But it was the prospect of producing great, dry wines that attracted him to the Pfalz region. We believe that Villa Wolf offers the best conditions for this. The famous sites in Forst and Wachenheim produce wines with exceptional elegance and minerality.
100% Riesling from the Pfalz is harvested at optimal ripeness for a bright, fresh style. No overripe or botrytis-affected fruit is allowed in the harvest, and once collected the fruit is processed as quickly as possible to preserve freshness. It sees cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks with no malolactic fermentation. With only a light filtration before bottling, no other fining occurs. The final wine has a residual sugar around 8g/liter.
Tasting Notes: Hints of smoke and pine fronds accent crisp grapefruit and lime flavors in this focused dry Riesling. Medium bodied and briskly concentrated, it finishes on a firm grip of fine tannins and a crush of earthen minerality.
Pairing: Perfect as an aperitif or accompaniment to delicate spiced foods.
