Get Spooky with These Pumpkin Liquor Brands

It's officially Fall, and as we get closer and closer to Halloween, it’s time to start busting out all things pumpkin – and that includes alcohol! We’ve put together a list of our favorite specialty pumpkin-flavored alcohols that are actually worth the purchase. And as it turns out, beer isn’t the only contender on the autumn beverage scene! We rounded up everything from infused rum to cream liqueurs for your enjoyment this holiday season.

Vapor Distillery Pumpkin King Cordial

This specialty bottle of pumpkin booze is small-batch, bottled-by-hand, and distilled with juice from hand-roasted pumpkins, ground cloves, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans, and a western-style gin. It’s a bit on the strong side, and may not be for everyone – but it will definitely get you into the fall spirit!

Heritage Hills Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur

Heritage Hills may be bringing back cream liqueurs as a trendy sipping cordial. This one tastes predominantly pumpkin-flavored, but you’ll also notice hints of orange, vanilla, and even graham crackers layered with cinnamon and cloves. The best thing about this particular liqueur is how well it pairs with other spirits; we recommend trying it mixed with another spiced whiskey, vodka, or liqueur.

Hiram Walker Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

Hiram Walker’s version of an autumn liqueur is surprisingly well-balanced all on its own – and even better shaken up into a little vodka. It has detectable hints of both pumpkin and the traditional spice accompaniments, and it tastes like good, strong pumpkin beer supplemented with a smooth buttery orange kick at the back. This one is a nice foray into the pumpkin spirts realm for beer lovers.

Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka

Pinnacle’s pumpkin pie flavored vodka has been on the market since 2012 and has been a regular on the shelves each autumn. It’s a little sweeter than others, and their take on the pumpkin pie includes whipped cream alongside the sweet pumpkin and the traditional spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. It ends up being a fair balance that gets as close to a piece of pumpkin pie done up with a dollop of cream as a vodka can get! Like all of Pinnacle's vodkas, it is distilled five times from winter wheat in France.

Captain Morgan Jack-O-Blast Rum

Even Captain Morgan has hopped on the pumpkin spice train! This limited edition seasonal flavor is the perfect shot for your holiday party. It comes in a round, pumpkin-shaped bottle, making it the perfect centerpiece for any Halloween party bar. It’s actually the first pumpkin spiced rum on the market and is designed to be everything from a chilled shot to an ingredient in a fall cocktail recipe. This one is worth a try if you are a fan of rum!

Kern River Pumpkin Ale

This fall seasonal ale is brewed with real pumpkin and just a hint of allspice. It pours slightly orange in color, with a light sweetness and spicy finish. Coming in at 6% ABV, it doesn’t have an overly strong taste; and the pumpkin flavor is just enough to make it interesting without being overpowering. Kern River Pumpkin Ale is great for all you beer lovers out there looking to get into the fall spirit!

Kahlua Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

Kahlua Pumpkin Spice is a new offering from the coffee liqueur masters at Kahlua. The spice in this particular liqueur is pretty intense, and flavors include cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Its thick, heavy, and syrupy sweet, and makes for a good drink when served over ice as a mellow sipping liqueur. Overall, Pumpkin Spice brings a little more seasonal flavor (and flair) in a lighter brown package than the original!

Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin Spiced Whiskey

Old Punk is part of Corsair's experimental range. They flavor the whiskey with hints of pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice, and then age it in American oak to create a unique, well-rounded whiskey. The taste is fiery and spicy with cinnamon, pumpkin pie, and a touch of dark chocolate that comes in at the end. The finish is light and lingering with subtle pumpkin and a nice spiciness.

Great Lakes Distillery Pumpkin Seasonal Spirit

This limited edition whiskey is distilled from the essence of the Great Lakes’ Lakefront Pumpkin Lager (grain and pumpkin with added spices) and aged in new and used oak bourbon barrels. Think of a malty whiskey with a light pumpkin and spice flavor; you’ll definitely get hints of nutmeg and clove. Try this as part of a Pumpkin Old Fashioned or with a seasonal cider, or simply try it straight up on a cold fall evening with a cinnamon stick! Overall, if you’re a whiskey lover and are looking for something seasonal to try, this one has gotten excellent reviews across the board.

Crop Organic Spiced Pumpkin Vodka

The Crop has a well-deserved reputation as a purveyor of high-end organic spirits, and despite the novelty nature of anything pumpkin, Crop has hit another home run with this hip flavor. An interesting burnt orange in color, Crop Spiced Pumpkin offers a sweet, fragrant vodka with hints of cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla spice. It captures the seasonal delight of pumpkin and all things autumn in a nicely packaged bottle – and it’s completely organic, which is always a plus. Try this one as part of a Pumpkin Ginger Cooler to get a bit more spice out of it.
