The Cruz De Fuego brand was launched in 2015 and was immediately awarded the distinction of best-tasting mezcal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is produced at Productores Del Buen Agave, a certified mezcal artisanal palenque; in other words, there are no automated processes throughout production. Margarita Blas and Carlos Mendez, mother-and-son team, actively work to protect the traditions behind artisanal mezcal-making, and each expression follows the same production process: cooked in conical (underground) ovens, open-air fermentation, milling by tahona-wheel, and copper distillation, twice distilled.
The agave harvested for this expression were between 7 and 10 years of age. This is an incredibly friendly expression of mezcal, exhibiting the light sweetness of fresh root vegetables, stone fruit skin, and white flowers. Distilled in Santiago Matatlán and bottled at 45% ABV.
