K+K Kirnbauer - 7301 - Blaufrankisch
Description
Overview: We cultivate around 45 hectares of vineyards in the Deutschkreutz area. Here we only process our own grape material. The vineyards are spread over many locations and reflect the constant expansion of our winery with the years of planting. For details on the individual vineyards, please see our list of vineyards.
The quality of the soil and the careful work in the vineyard create the conditions for the creation of great wines. Our Zweigelt vineyard in the Hochbaum location is certainly a special treat. These Zweigelt sticks were planted in 1960 - almost 60 years ago - and although they produce smaller quantities, they still produce outstanding grapes. The grape material from this location is used for our ``GIRMER``.
The prerequisites for high-quality grape material are already laid in the vineyard through care and yield reduction. To this end, we use the following measures, among others: High vine density, Restrictive pruning (low number of pips per vine), Green harvest Canopy work
Tasting Notes: Blaufrankisch is one of Austria's most compelling indigenous grapes, yielding wines that range in style from Pinot Noir to Syrah. This beautifully concentrated, smoky version falls right down the middle in terms of body and features exotic notes of clove and star anise. The palate here is silky and soft, showing expressive layers of black currant, blackberry and red cherry fruit
Pairing: Grilled chicken alla Diavola, Slow-cooked pork tacos, Crispy spaetzle with caramelized shallots and mushrooms.
