Stony Brook - Lyle - Méthode Cap Classique
Description
Overview: This charming boutique estate is set in the foothills of Franschhoek and was established in 1995. Nigel & Joy McNaught started the estate 27 years ago and the family tradition continues with their son Craig, now the chief winemaker. In 1995, the farm was mostly fruit trees, which were slowly pulled out to plant vines – Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon and Chardonnay.
From there, Stony Brook has grown and expanded their portfolio to include 14 grape varieties. Their philosophy of winemaking is firmly rooted in the old-world tradition, and they strive to produce high quality wines in an environmentally friendly manner.
Tasting Notes: Fresh citrus on the nose, with a hint of brioche from the extended lees contact. Lovely balance between brightness and richness on the palate, followed by a long, dry finish, allowing this Cap Classique to be cellared for many years to come. A wonderful wine to accompany oysters or to be enjoyed on its own for that special celebration.
Pairing: Seafood! Raw Oysters, clams (steamed or raw), steamed mussels in white wine sauce, steamed Maryland crabs and lobster.
